King Sisyphus
Ultrakill

NAME
Sisyphus
SPECIES
Husk (A dead human soul made physically manifest)
AGE
As a husk, over 2000. Died of old age as a mortal man
HEIGHT
Big (eight foot plus)

I leave Sisyphus at the foot of the mountain! One always finds one’s burden again. But Sisyphus teaches the higher fidelity that negates the gods and raises rocks. He too concludes that all is well. This universe henceforth without a master seems to him neither sterile nor futile. Each atom of that stone, each mineral flake of that night-filled mountain, in itself forms a world. The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a mans heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.
This prison? To hold me?
A visitor? Indeed, I have slept long enough.

Philosophy The Myth of Sisyphus is an essay written by Albert Camus in 1955, which expounds upon the philosophy of Absurdism, and the issue with the matter of suicide, finding one's place in the world, and what the meaning of life truly is. To illustrate this point he calls upon the myth of Sisyphus, a Greek king who defied the Gods and found himself eternally punished for it, damned to roll a boulder up a mountain every day, only to fumble as he reached the very peak and watch that boulder roll back down again, forced to start all over from the beginning. Camus compares this futile act, ultimately unwinnable, to the seemingly pointless struggles and pain of life itself, and goes on to posit that it is indeed the struggle itself that gives life its meaning. That to rebel against the idea that all of it is meaningless in and of itself gives one meaning to live. To live in defiance of expectations and to find meaning in the struggle of it all, and accept that life itself is absurd.

Do whatever you want forever, fuck it.

Cliffnotes
King Sisyphus, as he is depicted in Ultrakill, is more or less the same character from the Greek myth with a few light tweaks. His beef is still divine, though with the lack of actual Greek gods in the setting, he fucked about with Heaven itself and one would think, found out. He didn't and also he thinks he's still right and also incredibly smart and charming actually. His other divergence from the myth is in his attitude in regards to his punishment and life: rather than being a sorrowful man who suffers endlessly in penance, Sisyphus regrets nothing. Sisyphus is a charming, charismatic, intelligent man, with an even temper and a relaxed attitude. Nothing seems to really get under his skin, though he takes pleasure in getting under others. One could rightfully refer to him as a troll. For the sake of his people, he would lie, cheat, steal and murder, and he doesn't seem to harbor a single ounce of guilt for that. Even when heaven burned out his eyes with molten gold and sent him to toil within Hell for eternity, this was not enough to break his spirit. He is an incredibly stubborn man who revels in all forms of confrontation, whether it be physical or verbal, and will not hesitate to defend himself and question others whenever he sees fit.
